| Colibri.2 LED Illumination |
| |
Do you want to document fluorescent specimens with high contrast und homogeneous illumination without damaging your sample by bleaching?
Are you investigating dynamic processes in live cells and need fast illumination switching?
Colibri.2 is the new light source from Carl Zeiss with four LED modules, each producing monochromatic light of a different wavelength. Select one or more of them simultaneously to suit your experiment – switching takes only microseconds. Your advantage in detection: the image data acquired have a greater signal-to-noise ratio and a high dynamic range. Thanks to the redesigned beam path, Colibri.2 will illuminate the specimen homogeneously and without any time-consuming adjustment.

You can control Colibri.2 via hardware trigger, with the benefit that the specimen is exposed to phototoxic light energy only during the short camera exposure time. With the shortened light exposure and monochromatic excitation, the phototoxic effect is reduced. Your specimen will be spared even where image acquisition requires long-time light irradiation.
With its switching time of 500µs, Colibri.2 is distinctly faster than conventional light sources and shutters. You will profit from fast wavelength change especially in ratiometric methods such as FRET.
Use Colibri.2 to enjoy the merits of an LED-based light source. Save cost and time thanks to the long lifetime of several thousand hours, with no time required for warmup and cooldown. Last, but not least, quantify fluorescence intensities over longer periods – reliably and reproducibly. | |
